How to Source Class III Medical Devices from China: A Buyer’s Framework

Start with a controlled requirement

• Product name, intended use and users
• Model, configuration and critical specifications
• Destination country and buyer type
• Forecast, initial quantity and reorder cadence
• Required documents, labeling and language

Verify the manufacturer against the device

A certificate or registration document is not useful in isolation. Confirm the legal manufacturer, manufacturing address, covered product or model, validity, issuing authority and relationship between the document holder and seller.

Review destination-market requirements

China-side documents do not automatically authorize import or sale in another country. The importer or authorized regulatory specialist should confirm local classification, registration, labeling and post-market duties before the commercial order is approved.

Design the first order for repeatability

Record the approved SKU, configuration, packaging, document version, batch evidence and change-notification route. This turns the first purchase into the baseline for safer reorders.
